my follow-through on posting pics has been less than perfect... but I wanted to send a little ditty out.

is it me or are they TOTALLY downplaying this whole throwing shoe at the president thing? I mean if this would have happened to ANY other president, it would have been "BREAKING NEWS" and they would be all over it. They would be interviewing the guy's family and talking about charges and giving the history of how the guy was able to do it. Instead it's a laughing point... so weird... if that were a gun, the President would be done... and did you see how long it took Secret Service to even respond???

Funny thing is I get a BREAKING NEWS ALERT e-mail in my inbox this morning, that says "GUY RITCHY TO GET HUGE DIVORCE SETTLEMENT" seriously, that gets breaking news status, but a threat to the President...

what the fuck is going on in this world...

so I didn't post the turkey pic, SORRY MY 3 AUDIENCE MEMBERS!! heehee,
but me and the man are making other stuff!!!

We are making salt dough ornaments!

They need to get a little harder before we paint them, and I'll post a finished pic, but here's some to tide you over (gotta love my man for always being willing to do whatever project I suggest!!!)...

Thursday, November 27, 2008

I'm cooking a turkey for the first time by myself.
SEE ALSO: ahem

I'll post a picture when I'm done, so that Chef Ramsey can make fun of me.

heheee

I kind of took all the ideas my family gave me, a bunch of different recipes and a few shortcuts. My turkey is still rather frozen (um, thanks Butterball)

my dad was like "STUFF IT WITH APPLES". My mom was like "NO APPLES, JUST SOME CRISCO, PEPPER and SAGE". Real Simple recipe says "add chicken broth to bottom of pan halfway through". Alpha says: ALL OF THE ABOVE!
plus, the pepper came out too fast, so the top of it was BLACK...

CAJUN TURKEY DAY hehee

My man is going to laugh very hard, I'm sure.

Oh, and if you want to know WHY folks are different, because they are different, and because they are different
then just see this:
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=8ed_1209300037

Let’s compare, shall we… I know, totally off topic but…
here’s me and my mom and the grandmother from the black side.
and a-ha
my high school senior picture
my mom's high school senior picture
my grandmother (not sure how old, looks like pre-teen??)
and a-ha

no relation
just nostalgia.

ain't that a bitch.

Bryna says
"So, what changed so drastically between the 2nd and the 4th?"

ATG says: nothing. I really could have adapted to whomever was chosen. of course some fresh blood is always good, but really all politicians are the same, promising you the world then delivering sub par.

plus - Americans complain a lot. doesn't matter if the elected were a saint, some will love, some will hate.

plus - things are crappy (so they say), economy in the toilet and everything... but comparatively speaking to other places, we have NOTHING to complain about!

plus - i think there was some shady activity going on to make Obama president. Case in point: McCain, who is this decorated war hero, been in the Senate for YEARS has tons of contacts... and the ONLY person he can find as his running mate is some chick he doesn't even know from some podunk state nobody cares about. Something is VERY weird about that. VERY VERY weird!

has anyone noticed but me???

I've been watching the news for the last 2 days... and it's like all of the sudden they found EVERY AND ANY black person they could to be on tv...

seriously

every news station now has this upsurge in black reporters
every person they interview is black
is it just Los Angeles?

black people on the streets
black people in barber shops
black people in coffee shops
black people celebrating
black people EVERYWHERE

It's a MAJOR difference than just 3 days ago...

is it me??

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

I have to admit...I got a little emotional.
didn't think I would.
guess I didn't think i'd see the day!
that Americans would stand up.

I actually feel like my vote counted this election.
for the first time.
ever.

Never thought I'd tear up over a president.
because the last 29 years
I thought
and felt
nothing.

but in the end....it's JFK like status.
not complacency.
but
it's not that he's mixed, or black, or different, or white or anything
just that

we need something new.
and now we got our wildcard.

and that's all I really
needed.

Monday, November 03, 2008

oh. p.s.
i'm excited of the prospect of having a MIXED person in office!!!
putting us mixed-folks on the map!!!
(although they only say he's black... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr he's MIXED!!!!)

I’d like to show a little love for the OTHER folks on the ballot.
you know, since we are a democracy (although communism is more aligned to our current two-party-no-differentiation-between-the-two-party-system)

Um, so in case you don’t want Obama or McCain… your choices are… drumroll please….

Cynthia McKinney President, Rosa Clemente Vice President (Green Party)

Alan Keys President, Wiley S Drake Sr. Vice President (American Independent)

Ralph Nader President, Matt Gonzalez Vice President (Peace and Freedom)

Bob Barr President, Wayne Root Vice President (Libertarian)

or, ya’ll can just choose me as your write-in candidate

heheee
I haven’t really talked about this upcoming election. That’s because, for the first time in my life…I really don’t give a fuck who wins.

My level of complacency is fueled even more as the media keeps telling me “this is the most important decision in my life”. I couldn’t disagree more. This falls pretty much in between picking out socks or whether to bring an umbrella at a 20% chance of rain in my book. I’m not sure who I might vote for… and furthermore I don’t think my vote will count for a hill of beans. I’ve studied the candidates. I’ve watched the pros, the cons, the pointing fingers, the EVERYTHINGYOUNEEDGUIDETOSEEWHYWEFAILASHUMANS
and i feel nothing. Not swayed one way or another.
Adjust.
I feel like I can adjust.
to anything.
to Obama
to McCain
even to Bush
AND FURTHERMORE
I think these fucking wackjobs with there McCainPalin or ObamaBiden bumper stickers and signs should get a fucking life.
Something fishy is going to happen this election… and I’m not just talking about Al Gore actually winning with a switcher-roo surprise ending in a Bush.
Something that changes the face of America forever, and the system of voting that we currently use, and our race relations (FORTUNETELLERALPHAFORSEESCIVILWAR). I’m not talking about any doomsday scenario… just a test of fate.

And I’m okay with that. because it’s history and future and present
all rolled into

complacency.

Tuesday, October 07, 2008

i hate to say I told you so but…

this is the reason i didn’t want my fuckingtaxes to go to a business.

to all that say “yea” from the SENATE

you've dug the grave... now we all must lay (or is it LIE) in it.
fucking idiots

so i was thinking:
raising gas prices to $10 a gallon = CHAOS
= state level response instead of waiting on the feds
= state wide think-tank meetings
= faster solution
= pain… (wait for it, wait for it) then pleasure
SEE, it’s OH SO SIMPLE!

I’m glad the bank bailout didn’t pass… here’s why:
maybe now we can get away from BLINGBLING
and go back to barter (SEE ALSO: It cost MORE to produce a penny then a penny is actually worth)

(i’ll trade you my woolen cap for you’re spare tires)

Take That… Overspending
Take That… Gluttonous Reason
Take That…BuyingShitYouDon’tNeed

It’s a brand new day…. and

ATG weighs in on the debates:
um, I try to be unbiased…I’m neither for nor against any particular party. Yes, I’m a registered Democrat, but really my viewpoints are more conservative in general.

so let’s break it down by individual…

i scream to both candidates:
WE GET IT! YES THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN. I DON’T NEED TO HEAR 65 MINUTES OF “WE NEED TO FIX IT”, “WE NEED TO FIX IT” without a single solution on HOW! Furthermore, I wish it wasn’t such a “Obama does this, McCain does this” I’d rather hear… HERE’S WHAT THE FUCK WE CAN DO TO MAKE THINGS BETTER RIGHT NOW

McCain – you’re old pen comment was dumb, yes to cutting spending, yet you have not stated HOW you intend to do that or what will be cut. Raised taxes is the LEAST of my worries, and I AM THE MIDDLE CLASS. Um, spending freeze??? I bet our public schools would LOVE that.

Obama – same old same old, tax cuts, new spending, new programs but a shifting. And I HIGHLY doubt you will go line-by-line through US spending debits/credits (um, don’t they have accountants for that???)

Moderator – respond directly to him was your main comment… um clearly, you did NOT attend Moderating 101

Here’s what I think:
We need to focus on education, for adults and our prosperity. Educate on how NOT to get into debt, how NOT to try to keep up with the Jones’, how NOT to purchasealargehousewithapicketfencethatyoucan’t
affordsoyoucanworktoomuchsoyourkidsandwiferesent
yousoyoucanbuymorecrapsoyoucanpaytoeraseyour
carbonfootprintsoyoucanrecycleyourlife.

Foreign Policy – let the UN take care of it, we should NOT be playing Democracy Crusaders
Abortion – to each his/her own
Financial Situation – how much are we bringing in, what is going out? Um, all greedy-motherfuckers who fucked up the system should have to volunteer 5 whole years, 40 hours a week, and work for free to build houses, infrastructure and aid in the rebuilding of US
Dependence on oil – um, take a fucking walk! raise the gas to $10 bucks a gallon, I bet that would curb US desire to have 3 SUVs with customized plates!!

alphatheGREAT says: back to basics. learn to grow our own stuff, learn to whittle, learn to entertain without being entertained, learn to give, learn to live, have a community block party, get rid of useless shit, spend time with your family, throw out your cell phone… oh and TURN OFF THE DAMN TV.

roger that.
over and out.

RIP

I would like to share the sad news that my cousin Billy died last night in a fatal car accident. He was an awesome guy who is survived by his two infant children and his wife. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they are going though a very difficult time.

Here's a picture of us in happier times.

WHOLE LOTTA SHAKING GOING ON!!!

Um, so yesterday, on my REAL birthday, the gods seemed fit to surprise me with a bit of fun by playing a little game called: let’s scare the sh*t out of California!

Ah yes my lovelies, a 5.4 earthquake I got to witness. Put that on the record books for other events alphathegreat witnessed up close and personal:
terrorist attack of 2001
New York blackout of 2002
California wildfires

ah yes, mighty gods, you have done your part to scare the beejesus out of me!!!

So just in case you need a visual:

picture alphathegreat training a bunch of folks via phone… when suddenly she feels a jolt soon to follow with what can only be explained as the world around her rocking uncontrollably. I got off the phone ASAP saying “holy crap, I think we are having an earthquake!”… and I got under my desk. NOTE- picture below was staged for reference point, this is not the ACTUAL encounter I had with the gods…

I’m watching as my television is on the brink of coming off the stand, my candles are shaking all over, the refrigerator is being whipped about like it’s nobody’s business… and there I am thinking… SHIT!!!! Should I run out on the balcony and get ready to jump to the palm tree next to my apartment if the building starts to go!!!!!

Then it was over.

phew.

P.S. the 007 type move of jumping to the palm tree was totally lame… as the tree is over 5 feet away from my balcony AND I probably would have been stabbed to death by the palm fronds!!!!

Anywhooo, I’m still with us today my bloglits…
hail Mary full of grace
over and out

...gonna party like it's my birthday...oh yeah, um it IS my birthday!!
Happy Birthday to ME!!!! Thanks to all my lovely LA'ers who came out to see me last night!

um, so MSN had this horoscope thing for Leo's since it's our month, and I must admit it was totally on point! See below:

When the mighty Lion enters center stage, everyone notices. This dramatic, creative, and outgoing sign has the keyword magnetism for good reason. Fiery and self-assured, a Leo's charm can be almost impossible to resist. Whether it's time spent with family and friends or efforts on the job scene, a Leo is going to bring a lot to the table.

Friends and Family

By far the most generous of the zodiac, Leos make loyal and giving friends. They'll go out of their way to help even when it conflicts with their own schedules. The Leo is a strong, confident personality who has the ability to make almost everyone comfortable. Unassuming and gracious, they love to host parties and events. The Leo is rarely found alone - interacting is second nature. Close friends are chosen for their ability to keep up with the Leo's energy along with a strong sense of dignity and a commitment to individual values. When family is involved, the mighty Lion will do whatever it takes to defend loved ones. Loyalty for the Leo is for a lifetime. They pride themselves on being there for family through thick and thin.

Career and Money

Leos are doers. I will is the key phrase for this sign. There's a lot of energy packed into this sign, and they're always going to be busy, regardless of whatever else is happening around them. They are ambitious, creative, and optimistic. It's not enough for a Leo to just do the job. In order to suffice, it must be done to the absolute best of their ability. Once committed to an employer, they will go all-out, but the best situation for the Leo is to be his or her own boss.

Careers that allow for the Leo's dramatic flair, such as acting and entertaining, are ideal. Such positions give the Lion free rein. Other occupations such as management, teaching, and politics are well-suited, too. Anything that puts a Leo in a leadership position will give this sign the opportunity to do what comes naturally.

Leos love to surround themselves with the things they fancy. Because money usually comes readily to the Leo, there's always more where that came from. Money is meant to be spent as far as this sign is concerned - and spend they will. Generous in spirit, a Leo will give away their last dollar to help a friend. They're always confident that there will be more, and there usually is. There's never a lack of work for a Leo. In fact, there's generally more work available to them than they can keep up with.

Love and Sex

This fiery sign is passionate and forthright with affections. When it comes to sex, you can expect the Leo to be adventurous, fun, and highly energetic. There is a definite line of division between sex and love for Leos. Mates are chosen for their willingness to allow the Leo to take the lead, shine brightly, and be independent. They look for uninhibited lovers who aren't self-conscious. As accepting as the Leo is, a mate needs to be an intellectual equal to cut the mustard. Leos are loving, fun, and very giving to those in their personal life.

it's been a fun ride lately folks, muse is in hiding due to the 100 degree weather, but here's some pics.... i'm thinking my and the man have a weird fetish with inanimate objects!

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

So I got my government sponsored coupon for a tv digital converter, because I am among the minority of the population that chooses not to engage in the act of purchasing “entertainment” in the form of cable. So i think it’s quite interesting that the good old .gov (see also dotgov) is using the money garnished from my wages (SEE ALSO: taxes) to give folks two (yes, count them 2) $40 gift cards to purchase digital cable converter boxes (total = $80 for up to 2 converters).

It’s also quite interesting that the converters cost a minimum of $60 each, so basically you are paying $20 bucks for a box that was most likely made in China for $3 bucks, and I gotta shell out thousands in taxes and then pay even more… interesting… just so that the television I own (and I REFUSE to buy a flat screen just because it’s sexy… I’ll keep my energy efficient SONY model until it breaks~ FUCK YOU AMERICAN WASTE).

BUT, I can’t complain… i mean at least the government isn’t telling me how many children I can have (Carbon Copy: China) or what religion to be (Blind Carbon Copy: Afghanistan)

REWIND: to last week, when I got a total of 8 channels, 4 of which only came in sometimes, most of which had fun little fuzzies all over that made it impossible to see the what was happening.

FAST FORWARD: to today, over 40 channels, including an all Armenian, all Chinese, all Phillipino and several Mexican stations. PBS comes in loud and clear, and suddenly I find myself distracted by the American Experience

DOUBLEFUCKYOUENTERTAINMENT… for making me stay inside instead of gallivanting, smelling flowers and spending my economic stimulus check!!!!

okadokay my bloglits… I’m out (ten-4, roger that)

one more tidbit… so me and the boyfriend are moving in together. 28, and the first time I’ve ever lived with a man in the boyfriend-girlfriend capacity. WISH ME LUCK!!!

Things you don’t know about me… and maybe don’t want to know:

i keep porn in my dvd player, so when/if i die and folks have to go through my apartment, they are uncomfortable

i buy strawberries and blueberries and stick them in the freezer, then put them in mixed drinks and wine

i can’t cook to save my life (SEE ALSO: burning water), but i’m really good at microwaving

i pick things out of other people’s garbage, repaint them, then put them in my apartment

i love cactus's or cacti... or whatever you call them

i find tree stumps, shells and rocks and place them in my home… along with porn and other people’s garbage

i make candles, on the weekends, when most (single) people my age are out at bars and clubs

i own an obscene amount of Woody Allen movies

i subscribe to the following magazines: Popular Science, Real Simple & Money

today… i rearranged my record collection

i love tattoos… have 2, but plan on getting much more (of earthy things like butterflies and trees)

i have 13 earring holes… and wear earrings in all

that’s all for tonight… no really, get your own life
